The Must-Read Climate Change Report
Must-read for anyone concerned about global warming: the report “Global Climate Change Impacts in the United States”.
Access it here: http://bit.ly/13G2TW
A previous report I read about Cali’s climate change prospects immediately caused me to take my son for LOTS OF SKIING this year, because, brothers and sisters, that snow is going away, along with our reserve water…
Cap and Trade is ON
I’m now sure we will get Cap and Trade and soon. That’s because I just read the amazing Rolling Stone article posted here: http://www.scribd.com/doc/16763183/TaibbiGoldmanSachs
It seems Goldman Sachs has been closely tied to every bubble, and this is the latest.
Read the article, devastating!

Tough Sledding for Climate Change Bill
From Greg Hitt and Naftali Bendavid in The Wall Street Journal as reported in The Huddle today:
“The narrow passage Friday of an environment bill came with nearly one in five Democrats defecting, and only after supporters from coal-producing and agriculture districts won concessions that eased the impact on business and aggravated some environmentalists. Prospects for the measure remain uncertain in the Senate, even though Democrats hold a 59-40 voting majority.”
I’ve been predicting for some time that this bill will become mired in politics through the midterm elections. The rest of us need to focus on technology and (for those entering the market), maximizing available grants, subsidies and preferences.

Wind Speeds Dropping?
A New York Times blog of 15 June reports:
A new study holds potentially unwelcome news for wind power developers: wind speeds in the United States have dropped 15 to 30 percent over the course of about 30 years. And one possible cause, according to the authors, is climate change.
The study, forthcoming in the Journal of Geophysical Research — Atmospheres, finds that “wind speeds generally across the country are declining, more so east of the Mississippi,” according to one of the authors, Eugene Takle, a professor of atmospheric science at Iowa State University.
It’s happening elsewhere: “earlier studies also found wind reductions in Australia and Europe, offering more encouragement that the U.S. findings [...]
Climate Change Bill Update
Thanks to Ben Lubbon, I read The Huddle Digest every morning.Gives you a real taste of what’s happening inside the Beltway.
Today The Huddle reports: “House climate change czar Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) and Rep. Collin Peterson (D-Minn.), who has been representing farm state Democrats in talks over the energy bill, have reached an agreement that seems – initially – to have cleared the way for the measure’s passage on Friday. Still, Democratic aides have told POLITICO that it’s still not clear of the 40 or so moderates will follow Peterson in supporting the bill when the votes are actually cast.”
Translation: be a while yet.
Michael Wittman Speaks Up On Biodiesel Closure
Subject: Prevent Closure of Biodiesel Fuel Distribution in California
I am writing to state my great distress regarding recent rulings by the California State Water Board regarding the storage of Biodiesel in Underground Storage Tanks (UST).
I am an environmentally oriented California resident and for the past 3 years have been driving a vehicle powered by 100% biodiesel. I made the environmental choice in transportation to reduce my emissions, clean the environment and to eliminate my reliance on non-sustainable petroleum fuels.
The Water Board ruling to outlaw the storage of any blend of biodiesel over B20 has caused the local stations providing B99.9 to close. Not only have I lost my access to [...]
